Maths: Complete the tasks
that have been set for you. If you have highlighted times table that need to be
learnt please look at practising those too. If you have already had your gloss

focus on this.
Reading: Have a little look at the following
website http://www.littleangels.co.nz/#!shop-now/cfzl
. Have a little look at the features that have been included in the webpage.
Keep a record of the key things included.
Look at the key features that you have recorded, make a link
to why you think that feature was included. e.g.
Contact information - so that people can be contacted and products sold.
Writing: We have
been learning about complex and compound sentences this week. Hopefully you are seeing the
difference and how each can create impact in different ways.
Exercise: Each compound sentence has
two independent clauses joined together with a comma and a coordinating
conjunction. Underline each subject once and each verb twice. Highlight or draw
a circle around the coordinating conjunction.
1. Bats are the only mammals that are capable of flying, so some
people mistake them for birds.
2. The number of cervical vertebra is seven in almost all mammals, but
the sea cow has eight.
3. Whales and dolphins live in water, yet they are air‐breathing
animals.
4. Most mammals give birth to live babies, but the duck‐billed
platypus lays eggs.
5. Elephants have very large ears, but they have very poor hearing.
6. The bat’s leg bones are too thin to hold up their bodies, so they
hang upside down.
7. The elephant is a huge animal, yet the blue whale is even larger.
8. The cheetah is the fastest mammal, and the sloth is the slowest.
9. Mammals are the only species that has hair, and they are the only
one with one bone in the lower jaw.
10. Reptiles and
fish have many sets of teeth, but mammals have only two sets.
Use
subordinating conjunctions (though, if, when, because, etc.) to connect the
sentences into one complex sentence.
